Jordan Part 2: Two Arabian Nights and One Day in Wadi Rum
Welcome to the second part of my tour through the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. I was driven from my hotel in Aqaba to the Wadi Rum Protected Area. I stayed for two nights at the Memories Aicha Bedouin Camp. I chose to stay for two nights because I visited Petra on my second day and used the Bedouin Camp as my travel base for two days to make it easier to return to the airport in Eilat, Israel. On the third day, I had an extremely early flight to Cyprus.
Here are the top nine things you need to know about Wadi Rum
I stayed in Aqaba, Jordan, and drove to Wadi Rum, which takes about an hour. You can rent a car or schedule a taxi with your hotel’s concierge.
You must contact your Bedouin Camp in advance to arrange your transportation to the Camp. You will be advised of any fee, and they will provide additional information.
Upon arrival, you must check in at the Wadi Rum Welcome Center. The entrance fee is 5 Jordanian Dinars, or free if you have purchased the Jordan Pass.
You will then drive or be transported to the Wadi Rum Village, where your hotel will arrange your transportation to the Camp. This was the procedure for my Camp. Your Camp could have a different protocol, so please contact them in advance.
The Wadi Rum Village will likely be the last place you will have internet service. The Memories Aicha Luxury Camp did not have WIFI available, and there are not any cellular towers in the Protected Area,
The Camp will provide your desert tour. The tour lasts around three hours. If you would like to see the sunset, tell them in advance so they can schedule your departure time accordingly. The Camel Ride is an additional cost.
My Bedouin Camp provided a buffet-style breakfast and dinner with an array of food options, including vegetarian options. Lunch, however, is not included and will incur an additional fee. The beverages available were bottled water and sodas. There were no alcoholic drinks available.
A beautiful stargazing tour concludes your evening and is included in your room rate at the Memories Aicha Camp. This is your entertainment for the evening, and you can enjoy nature and escape television, noise, and reality…. If only for one night.
The Camp is secluded, but I did feel safe as a solo traveler.
I hope that you enjoy my video and blog.
Safe travels and happy reading,
