Habibi, Welcome to Bahrain!
Learning about your destination before you arrive helps create a connection to the location, and your experience can go beyond just surface level. I understand that planning, researching, and packing are necessary but can reduce some of the pleasure of your fabulous holiday.
Well, that is why I am here! Below are a few key points that you should know before your trip.
1. Island nation
Bahrain is an archipelago of islands in the Persian Gulf, located between Saudi Arabia and Qatar, and the smallest country in the Middle East
2. Pearl diving
Bahrain has been a leading producer of pearls for centuries, and its pearling industry is a significant part of its economy and culture. Bahrain is also the sole country worldwide to have banned the cultivation of artificial pearls, which have flooded the market since the 1920s.
3. Formula One
Bahrain hosted the first Formula One Grand Prix in the Middle East in 2004.
4. Oil reserves
Bahrain was the site of the first oil reserves discovered in the Arabian Gulf.
5. Dilmun civilization
Bahrain was home to the Dilmun civilization, which was an important trading center trading between Mesopotamia and the Indus Valley.
Dilmun is also believed to be the location in the Epic of Gilgamesh where the hero Gilgamesh traveled to find the secret of eternal life (the Epic of Gilgamesh is the world's oldest written story)
